Description
An elegant yet effortless appetizer featuring creamy brie wrapped in golden, flaky puff pastry, enhanced with sweet fig preserves, honey, and fresh thyme.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 wheel of brie cheese (8–12 oz)
- 1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed
- 1–2 tablespoons honey
- 1–2 tablespoons fig preserves
- 1 tablespoon fresh thyme leaves
- Black pepper, to taste
- 1 egg, beaten
- Coarse sugar, for sprinkling (optional)
- Chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Roll out the thawed puff pastry on a lightly floured surface and place the brie wheel in the center.
- Score the top of the brie in a crosshatch pattern.
- Spread fig preserves evenly over the top, drizzle honey, sprinkle fresh thyme, and add black pepper.
- Optionally, add chopped walnuts or pecans for extra crunch.
- Fold the puff pastry up and over the brie, sealing the edges.
- Brush the entire pastry surface with beaten egg and sprinkle coarse sugar if desired.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes until the pastry is golden brown and crispy.
- Let cool for 5 minutes before serving with crackers, sliced baguette, or fresh fruit.
Notes
For best results, use high-quality brie and thaw the puff pastry properly. Seal all edges to prevent leaks and allow the baked brie to rest before serving to keep the cheese from oozing out too fast.
