  • 4 large eggs

  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 2 large bananas (sliced)
  • 1 cup diced pineapple
  • 1 cup sliced strawberries
  • 2 cups whipped cream or cream cheese frosting
  • ½ cup chocolate syrup
  • ¼ cup chopped nuts (optional)
  • Maraschino cherries for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour three 8-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in vanilla extract.
  5. Alternately add dry ingredients and buttermilk, mixing until just combined.
  6. Divide batter evenly among prepared pans.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Let cakes cool completely before assembling.
  9. Place first cake layer on a serving plate and spread a thin layer of whipped cream or frosting.
  10. Top with sliced bananas and diced pineapple.
  11. Repeat with the second cake layer, adding sliced strawberries.
  12. Add final cake layer and cover entire cake with whipped cream or frosting.
  13. Drizzle chocolate syrup over top and sides.
  14. Sprinkle with chopped nuts (if using) and top with maraschino cherries.
  15. Chill before serving for best results.

Use ripe bananas for best sweetness. Chill before slicing for easier serving. Customize toppings with coconut, sprinkles, or crushed cookies.
